Now the government has made the process easier; you can apply for a ration card online from the comfort of your home through the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app, that too without any hassle.
How to apply online from home
Previously, people had to wait in line for hours at their nearest government office. But now, under the Digital India campaign, you can download the UMANG app on your mobile. After downloading the app, register and go to the home page. Here, go to the Services section, and then you’ll find the ration card option under the Utility Services section.
Click on ‘Apply Ration Card’ on the UMANG app, then select your state. Currently, this feature is available for a few states, such as Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. This service will be rolled out to more states soon. After selecting your state, fill in the required information in the application form: name, father’s name, date of birth, address, and other family members’ information. After filling in all the necessary details, upload the relevant documents and finally click Submit.
