Actor Rajinikanth’s party has said in the Chennai High Court that it will withdraw the case against the notice sent to the Raghavendra wedding hall to pay property tax following the court warning.

Property tax for the year 2019-2020 was paid to the Raghavendra Wedding Hall in Kodambakkam last February. In this context, the Chennai Corporation has sent a notice on September 10 last year to pay a half-yearly property tax of Rs. The notice also states that if you fail to pay the property tax by October 15, you will have to pay a penalty of 2 percent interest.

Therefore, the petition filed by actor Rajinikanth against this notice came up for hearing in the Chennai High Court before Judge PD Asha today. At the time, Rajinikanth’s party pointed out that the wedding hall had been inactive since March, as the curfew continued to be extended due to the spread of the corona infection.

It was also argued that the notice sent by the corporation should be barred as it would be against the rules of the Chennai corporation to levy full tax on the marriage hall which was inactive during the calamity.

Why did the judge, who refused to accept this, respond to the corporation’s notice on September 23 and immediately approach the court in an emergency? Rajinikanth questioned the party.

Rajinikanth’s party said it would withdraw its petition following a judge’s warning that it would be fined for wasting court time by filing such a petition. Following this, the judge said that the petition should be filed today to withdraw his petition.
