Rain Alert: Cyclone Montha has changed the weather across the country. It has been raining in many parts of the country for the last few days. Light rain, snowfall and cold wave are expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today (October 31) on Friday.
Rain is also expected in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan for the next two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain with thundershowers in Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that Cyclone Montha may cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of the country in the next three to four days. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm are likely at isolated places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in Telangana. Winds reaching a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are also expected in many areas. The change in weather will also affect Punjab. Cold wave may increase in some districts of Punjab due to heavy rainfall.

It is likely to move almost northwards towards East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining North Chhattisgarh and weaken into a low pressure area during the next 24 hours. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from 3 November 2025. The changing weather system is likely to change the weather in many states.
Lightning likely in South Peninsular India
Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in Telangana, accompanied by thundershowers and strong winds at isolated places. Wind speed may reach 30 to 40 kmph. Lightning is likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from 31st October to 2nd and 3rd November and in Rayalaseema on 2nd and 3rd November. Strong winds are likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 30th October. Wind speed may reach 40 to 50 kmph here.
Rainfall in West India
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places in Konkan and Goa on October 31. Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is possible at isolated places. Heavy rainfall is likely in Gujarat from October 31 to November 1. According to IMD, thunderstorms are likely in Gujarat during the next four days and in Maharashtra during the next two days.
Thunderstorms
are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya on October 31 and November 1 and in Nagaland on October 31. Lightning is likely to occur in this region during the next three days.
Heavy rains forecast in northwest India
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rains are likely at some places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on October 31. Heavy rains are expected at many places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on October 31.
