All of you must have made Train Ticket Reservation for rail travel from time to time. If you have booked the ticket much before the day of travel, then you must have got a confirmed berth.

But many times when we make ticket reservation around the day of travel, the ticket is booked in waiting. Now there are many types of waiting list. People are often not aware of which waiting list the ticket is likely to be confirmed. Today we will tell you about the different types of waiting list. You will know here which waiting list is more likely to get the ticket confirmed.

Waiting List (WL)

When you book a ticket, many times the WL code comes written. It means waiting list. This is the most common code on the waiting list. Here your ticket is most likely to be confirmed. For example, if the ticket says GNWL 7/WL 6, it means that your waiting list is 6. This means that your ticket will be confirmed in the event that 6 passengers who booked your tickets before cancel their tickets.

Pooled Quota Waiting List (PQWL)

This code written on the ticket means Pooled Quota Waiting List. When a long distance train travels between any two stations in the middle, the waiting ticket is put in the PQWL. Here, if the confirmed ticket is canceled at any station, then the ticket of the passenger with PQWL becomes confirmed.

RAC

RAC code means Reservation Against Cancellation. In RAC, two passengers are allowed to travel on the same berth. After this, the passengers whose ticket is confirmed and they do not travel, then their berth is given to other passengers as RAC.

Road Side Station Waiting List (RSWL)

Sometimes the RSWL code is written on the ticket. It means Road Side Waiting List. This code comes when the ticket is booked from train originating stations to road side station or stations falling near it. The chances of getting confirmed in this type of waiting ticket are very less.

Remote Location Waiting List (RLWL)

The Remote Location Waiting List is most likely to be confirmed. This is the quota of berths for smaller stations. Waiting tickets at these intermediate stations are given RLWL code.

Tatkal Quota Waiting List (TQWL)

This is the Tatkal Quota Waiting List. This code appears if the name appears in the waiting list for booking tickets in Tatkal. The chances of it getting confirmed are very less.

No Sheet Birth (NOSB)

Railways charges child fare from children below 12 years of age, but they are not allotted seats. In this case NOSB code appears in PNR status.
