Post office new rule: This is big news for the customers of the post office. The post office has made major changes in the rules. Now you will need a passbook for most of the services. If you want to close any account other than RD, MIS, Senior Citizen Saving Scheme, Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) or National Savings Scheme, then for that first you have to submit the passbook.

Passbook required for account closure

The maturity of your investment is complete and you want to close the account by withdrawing that money, then you will have to submit the passbook to the post office. The post office has recently issued a circular and informed about the new rule. This rule was brought so that the employees will submit the passbook from you while closing your account.

Post office information

The post office issued a circular saying, ‘At the time of closure or premature closure of the time deposit account, the customer has to submit his passbook. This new rule is applicable for RD, TD, MIS, SCSS, KVP and NSC. In all types of post offices, even branch offices, the passbook will have to be submitted when the account is closed. After mentioning the last transaction in the passbook, a closure entry will be made in it and the post office employee will affix the date stamp.

The post office will give the report of closing the account

Along with this, if your account is closed, a report will be given to the account holder from the post office as an acknowledgment. This acknowledgment will be a guarantee that your account has been permanently closed. Account holders can keep this acknowledgment letter as NOC. If later the account holder asks for the account statement, he will be issued a passbook-like paper for which the customer will not have to pay any charge.
