Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Maharashtra on Wednesday for a two-day visit. During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport as well as the final phase of Line 3 (Aqua Line) of the Mumbai Metro. Additionally, PM Modi will launch the Mumbai One mobile app and the STEP skills program.
The airport will be inaugurated on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Navi Mumbai tomorrow at 3:00 pm and conduct a walk-through inspection of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The airport has been built at a cost of approximately ₹19,650 crore. The Prime Minister will formally inaugurate the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport at 3:30 pm. During the event, he will also launch several important projects related to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Features of Navi Mumbai International Airport
- This is India’s largest Greenfield airport project.
- It has been built on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
- Adani Group company Adani Airports Holdings will hold 74% stake in Navi Mumbai International Airport and the remaining 26% stake will be held by CIDCO.
- The total area of ​​Navi Mumbai Airport is 1160 hectares.
- It will handle 90 million passengers and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo every year.
- All the terminals of the airport will be interconnected through Automatic People Mover (APM).
- This airport has been given direct connectivity with water taxi and this will be the first airport of its kind in the country.
- The airport will have a 47 MW solar power plant and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) storage capacity.
Mumbai Metro
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the final phase of Line 3 (Aqua Line) of the Mumbai Metro on Wednesday evening, spanning 33.5 km. The line will run from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR, with a total of 27 stations. The construction of this line cost ₹37,270 crore (approximately $372.7 billion USD). The line is expected to carry over 1.3 million passengers daily. This line will be Mumbai’s first fully underground line. This Mumbai Metro line will connect key areas of South Mumbai—Fort, Marine Drive, Mantralaya, RBI, BSE, and Nariman Point. It will also provide connectivity to the railways, other metro stations, monorails, and the airport.
Mumbai One App
Prime Minister Modi will launch the Mumbai One mobile app on Wednesday. This will be India’s first app that brings together 11 public transport operators. It will provide services related to Mumbai Metro lines 1, 2A, 3, and 7, as well as the Mumbai Monorail, Mumbai local trains, and BEST buses. Furthermore, the app will also provide transport services for Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Navi Mumbai.

STEP Program
PM Modi will also launch the Maharashtra government’s STEP (Short-Term Employability Program) on Wednesday. This program aims to connect youth with industry needs. It will be implemented in 400 government ITI’s and 150 technical high schools. A total of 2,500 new training batches will be available, of which 364 will be exclusively for women. Additionally, 408 batches will be dedicated to emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, EV, solar, and 3D printing.
