PM Modi makes big announcement, gives relief package of Rs 1600 crore to Punjab

Prime Minister Modi today conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected districts of Punjab. PM Modi has released a relief package for Punjab. He has announced Rs 1600 crore for the flood victims of Punjab. He said that Punjab already has Rs 12,000 crore in its account from SDRF. Apart from this, the families of the deceased will get financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each and the families of the injured will get Rs 50,000 each.

After Himachal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Punjab. He has reached Gurdaspur. Here he met the flood-affected people. He met the flood victims and listened to their grievances. The flood victims informed PM Modi about their losses.

The Prime Minister announced a financial assistance of Rs 1,600 crore for Punjab, which is in addition to the Rs 12,000 crore already received by the state. The second installment of SDRF and the advance installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi will be released.

The Prime Minister stressed on a multi-pronged approach for the rehabilitation of the entire region – this will include construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, repair of national highways, reconstruction of schools, relief from PMNRF and distribution of mini kits for livestock.

Special assistance announced for farmers – Those who do not have electricity connections will get assistance. Tubewells and boreholes affected by floods will be revived under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.

Installation of solar panels for diesel-powered bore pumps and micro-irrigation under ‘more crop per drop’ guidelines will be promoted in collaboration with MNRE.

Assistance will be provided for reconstruction of flood-affected houses in rural areas through the “Special Project” launched by the Punjab Government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural. Financial assistance will be provided to government schools damaged by floods under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Under the Jal Sanchaya Jan Bhagidari Programme, extensive construction and repair of water conservation and recharge structures will be carried out in Punjab.

On this occasion, Jakhar said that people raised the issue of non-cleanliness of drains in Punjab, due to which water could not be drained.
