Every year in November, pensioners are required to submit a life certificate to continue receiving their pension. Failure to submit this certificate on time could result in a suspension of pension credit. The good news is that this can now be done online from home in just a few minutes. Today, we’re going to share some important tips so you can submit your life certificate without any hassle.
Who has to submit when?
As a general rule, the Life Certificate is required to be submitted in November of each year. Important: Pensioners over 80 years of age are allowed to submit it between October 1, 2025, and November 30, 2025.
What do you need to keep on hand?
- Aadhaar or VID number
 - Mobile number (must be linked with Aadhaar)
 - Pension Payment Order (PPO) Number
 - Bank account number and IFSC
 - Name of the authority summoning the pension
 
How to submit life certificate online
- Open the website jeevanpramaan.gov.in.
 - Select “Generate Life Certificate” or related link.
 - Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number; verify OTP.
 - Perform biometric (fingerprint/iris) authentication at the nearest CSC/Aadhaar centre or at home using a USB-Aadhaar device.
 - Upon successful authentication, a digital life certificate will be generated and saved in the life certificate repository, which the pension disbursing agency can access online.
 
Digital submission through UMANG app
- Go to UMANG app and search “Jeevan Pramaan”.
 - Tap on “Generate Life Certificate”.
 - Fill in the required details and do Aadhaar biometric verification.
 - Get the receipt/certificate as soon as the life certificate is generated.
 
Offline method
Visit your nearest bank branch, CSC center, or avail the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) doorstep service. The DLC will be generated using your Aadhaar biometrics.
Important points and legality
Digital Life Certificate is recognised in electronic form and is a valid document under the IT Act.
