Paytm: In the age of digital payments, everyone wants their payment ID to be unique and easy to remember. Keeping this in mind, Paytm has launched a new feature that allows you to set your own UPI ID.
With this feature, you no longer have to rely on the company’s default UPI ID; instead, you can create your own unique UPI ID as per your convenience and preferences. This will not only make payments easier but also make transactions more personalized and secure.
In fact, previously, when making a transaction, the UPI ID displayed your phone number along with the bank’s name. Visibility of the phone number always posed a privacy risk. But now, with the new UPI feature, you can completely hide your phone number or email ID, or even use a custom text ID. Currently, 90 out of 100 people aren’t aware of this. Let’s learn how to create your own custom UPI ID…
How to create a UPI ID of your choice?
If you are a Paytm user then creating a new UPI ID is very easy.
- First of all open Paytm app.
- Now go to the profile section and go to “UPI & Payment Settings”.
- Here you will see all the linked accounts and existing UPI IDs.
- Now click on “Create a New UPI ID”.
- Create an ID of your choice by combining words and numbers.
- If you want, you can also create a backup UPI ID, so that the transaction does not stop in case of payment failure.
According to recent reports, after Paytm, Google Pay and PhonePe may also soon introduce a similar feature. While this option isn’t currently available to all users within the Google Pay app, it’s expected to be rolled out to everyone in the coming days.
Paytm had earlier launched this facility only for Yes Bank and Axis Bank customers, but now HDFC Bank and SBI customers can also create a UPI ID of their choice.
