Passengers will be able to travel by air for just ₹ 3240, Maharashtra government approved a budget of Rs 17.97 crore

The Maharashtra government has set a budget of Rs 17.97 crore to promote Solapur-Mumbai and Solapur-Pune air routes.

The Maharashtra government has taken a big decision keeping in mind better travel facilities to the people of the state. The Maharashtra government cabinet has approved the proposal to provide a subsidy of Rs 3240 for each seat on Solapur-Mumbai and Solapur-Pune air routes. This facility will be available at a discounted rate of Rs 3240 per seat, which will cover 100% of the operating cost of the service.

Maharashtra government sets a budget of Rs 17.97 crore

This scheme of the Maharashtra government will be applicable for one year and will be run on the lines of the Center’s UDAN scheme. The airline company Star Air will get this government assistance, which operates flights between Solapur-Mumbai and Solapur-Pune. The Maharashtra government has set a budget of Rs 17.97 crore to promote Solapur-Mumbai and Solapur-Pune air routes. This move of the government will reduce air fares on Mumbai-Solapur and Solapur-Pune routes and passengers will get a great facility of cheap tickets at affordable prices.

Solapur airport will come under UDAN scheme after one year

The Maharashtra government cabinet decision states, “The state government will provide VGF (viability gap funding) subsidy of Rs 3240 per seat with a total budget of Rs 17.9 crore for one year. After one year, Solapur airport will come under UDAN scheme and after that the state government will give a subsidy of 20% of the travel fare as per the guidelines of UDAN scheme and viability gap funding will end.” Flights have already started on these routes in Maharashtra under the Udan scheme. Under the Udan scheme, airlines have to sell 50 percent of seats at a fixed rate (around ₹2500 per hour of flight) with subsidy, while the remaining seats are available at normal market rates. Let us tell you that flights have already started on Mumbai-Nanded, Nashik-Delhi, Nanded-Hyderabad, Kolhapur-Hyderabad and Kolhapur-Bangalore routes under the Udan scheme in Maharashtra. This scheme has promoted air connectivity, tourism and employment in small cities.
