New Delhi . Phishing SMS frauds are on the rise more than ever. Many people have been getting fake messages for the last few weeks. But many people get trapped in this cyber fraud. In a few days in Mumbai, 40 people lost several lakhs due to clicking on this type of SMS. In a recently reported case, actor Nagma Morarji lost Rs 1 lakh by clicking on the received SMS.

Beware of this message

According to ANI, Nagma received a message on February 28 that her mobile net banking would be blocked till evening if she did not update her PAN. Nagma thought it was an urgent notification from the bank, so she clicked on that link. After clicking on that link a page opened where the option to enter OTP came. As soon as he entered the OTP, he got a message on his mobile that Rs 99,998 has been withdrawn from his account.
After this, an FIR has been registered with the Mumbai Police. A case has been registered under sections 420 and 419 of the IPC and sections 66c and 66D of the IT Act.

SMS frauds are increasing rapidly

This type of SMS frauds are increasing very fast. In Mumbai, there has been an increase in such cases in the last few weeks. Till last week, Mumbai Police has filed 70 such cases. Police has also issued an advisory for the people, in which it is forbidden to click on any link received in SMS.

Police is doing its work but people also need to be alert in this matter. If you get any such SMS that update your PAN or Aadhaar immediately, otherwise your bank account will be closed or freeze or internet banking will be blocked, then do not click on such link.
