The way to implement the Old Pension Scheme for government employees in the state will be found through the New Pension Scheme. Jairam Sarkar has promised that the government will form a high power committee regarding old pension.

The committee is yet to be formed. Earlier, NPS employees have collected the pension fund data in their account. The New Pension Scheme was implemented in the state in the year 2003. Since then, 1.07 lakh employees in the state have been covered under NPS. At present, there is an amount around 6000 crores in his pension fund. Out of this, 2800 crores is their own contribution and 3200 crores is the share of the state government. The state government contributes 14 percent for NPS.

Recently, during the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, NPS employees staged a sit-in in Tapovan. After this dharna, the NPS delegation met the Chief Minister on December 11. The CM had argued that if the Old Pension Scheme is to be implemented,

After this meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Prabodh Saxena had issued a notification asking for the formation of a committee. This committee is to be constituted now. Before the formation of the committee, the NPS Employees Federation has extracted the data of the pension fund of Himachal government employees through RTI from the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority of the Government of India. This amount becomes around 6000 crores.

As per the current provisions, National Securities Depository Limited ie NSDL manages the pension fund and gives an option to the employees to invest this money in three companies. This includes the companies SBI Pension Fund Private Limited, LIC Pension Fund Limited and UTI Retirement Solutions Limited. There are other options too, But the employees of Himachal do not choose him. Now NPS Employees Federation President Pradeep Thakur and General Secretary Bharat Sharma say that the liabilities can also be balanced by using the funds available in NPS Pension Fund.

Committee on old pension will be formed soon

The government is going to constitute a committee soon in the matter of old pension. There is no need to go to the cabinet separately for this. However, the NPS Employees Federation has demanded that 30 percent of the members in this committee should be theirs. One member should be from Economics and Statistics and one IAS officer should be a member who is himself under the purview of New Pension Scheme.

Now it is up to the state government which type of committee it selects. For this decision also, the government is currently waiting for the Finance Secretary to return to duty, who is currently Corona positive.
