Punjab Desk: NHAI has launched a new scheme to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Under this scheme, travelers who notice unsanitary conditions at a toll plaza or an NHAI-operated toilet on a national highway can report the matter and receive a FASTag recharge worth ₹1,000. This scheme is applicable across the national highway network and will continue until October 31, 2025.
Passengers will need to upload a geo-tagged, time-stamped, and clear photo of the dirty toilet through the “Marg Yatri” mobile app. They’ll also need to enter their name, mobile number, vehicle registration, and location. The report will be verified both manually and via AI. If found correct, the vehicle’s FASTag will be recharged with ₹1,000.
Some rules have also been set for this scheme. Please note that each vehicle will be eligible for reward only once and only one reward will be given per toilet per day. This facility is applicable only to NHAI-operated toilets; dhabas, petrol pumps, or other private toilets are not included. Uploaded photos must be clear and duplicate photos will not be accepted. NHAI’s objective is to provide clean toilets to travelers and encourage them to participate as responsible citizens.
