Today is a historic day for the people of border district Ferozepur. The central government has announced the launch of Vande Bharat train, fulfilling the long-standing demand of the people of Ferozepur.
Giving information, senior BJP leader and former minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi said that during a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav a few months ago, he had demanded to run Vande Bharat train from Ferozepur to New Delhi. It is a matter of happiness that the central government has approved it and this service is starting from today, 21 August.
Rana Sodhi said that according to the new service, the Vande Bharat train will depart from Ferozepur at 7:55 am and reach New Delhi at 2:30 pm. The return journey time has been fixed to depart from Delhi at 4:00 pm and reach Ferozepur at 10:30 pm. This train will run from Ferozepur to Delhi via Faridkot, Bathinda, Mansa, Budhlada, Jind and Rohtak. This route will prove to be convenient not only for Ferozepur but also for the entire Malwa region and many districts of Haryana.
He said that till now it took a lot of time for the people of Ferozepur and the surrounding areas to reach Delhi and they had to first depend on other trains via Ludhiana or Bathinda. But with the launch of Vande Bharat train, not only the travel time will be reduced but people will also get the facility of modern, fast and comfortable travel.
Sodhi also said that earlier there was a demand to extend the train route beyond Ferozepur to Fazilka, but due to some technical reasons this was not possible immediately. However, the central government has given positive signals in this regard and it is expected that soon the route of Vande Bharat will be extended to Fazilka.
There is an atmosphere of happiness over this decision in the entire region including Ferozepur, Faridkot and Bathinda. Business class, students, employees commuting for government jobs and Punjabi families living in Delhi have all called it a “historic step”.
People say that this new decision will not only improve travel facilities but will also give a big boost to economic, business and educational activities in the region. Students will now be able to reach Delhi University and other educational centers easily and quickly. The possibilities of transporting goods will increase for traders and tourists will also benefit.
