The uncertainty surrounding the inauguration of the Noida International Airport being built in Jewar has been resolved. The Union Civil Aviation Minister arrived at Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport on Wednesday for the Passenger Service Day program.
Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has announced that the inauguration date for the Noida airport has been set for October 30th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s largest airport in a grand ceremony. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present. The Prime Minister will also address a public meeting.
The public meeting will be attended by over 100,000 people from Gautam Buddha Nagar and surrounding districts, as well as from the neighboring states of Delhi and Haryana. Flights will begin within 45 days of the inauguration. Initially, air service will be available to ten cities across the country.

Police, administration, and YEIDA officials have begun preparations for the airport’s inauguration ceremony. Officials attended a key meeting held at the airport premises.
The construction of an airport in Jewar was announced in 2002 during the then BSP government, but no work began until 2014. Work on the airport resumed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power in 2014. Local MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma became the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation. He played a key role in initiating the airport’s construction.
On November 25, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Jewar Airport. The developer, Zurich Airport International AG, was scheduled to complete the airport’s construction in 1,095 days. After a delay of nearly a year, the airport is now ready for inauguration. Although work on the terminal building remains, it will be completed by October 15.
Noida airport goes from file to reality

The date kept changing
Under the contract between Zurich Airport International AG and the state government, the airport was given a 1095-day deadline to complete construction. This deadline was to be met by September 29, 2024, but Tata Projects, appointed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (a special purpose vehicle of Zurich Airport International AG) to build the airport, failed to complete the work on time.

A three-month extension was granted, which expired in December 2024. This deadline was then extended to April 2025. However, on March 10, 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed Tata Projects to complete the domestic terminal by May 15 and the international terminal by June 25, due to incomplete construction. However, this deadline also passed, and a new deadline of September 30, 2025 was set.
Terminal work will be completed by October
The runway, ATC, apron, lighting, and civil works at the airport are nearly complete. The terminal building’s decoration work remains incomplete, and is expected to be completed in October.
Starting with an annual passenger capacity of 5 million
The airport will initially handle 5 million passengers annually. The airport is designed to handle 12 million passengers from a single runway. Once 80 percent of passenger capacity is reached, construction of a second runway and terminal building will begin.
Flights available to ten major cities of the countryÂ
Initially, flights will be available to ten major cities in the country, including Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, etc.
Ten aerobridges
Ten aerobridges have been provided at the airport for air passengers. Passengers can board and disembark ten aircraft at a time. This will save travel time. Separate gates have also been created for domestic and international passengers.
Contactless, seamless DigiYatra
Passengers will enjoy modern amenities at Noida International Airport. Facial recognition technology and QR codes will enable contactless DigiYatra, saving time and reducing hassle for passengers.
The test will be done with the latest ATRS machine.Â
For passenger safety, hand and cabin baggage will be checked using a state-of-the-art Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS). This ensures a faster process than standard machines. This ensures that passengers arriving and departing at the airport receive their luggage in significantly less time.
First airport to earn highest ticket revenue per passenger
Noida Airport has developed a new revenue sharing model in the country. A fixed revenue collection formula has been adopted per passenger ticket. At Noida Airport, the government will receive revenue of ₹400.97 per ticket. However, this revenue sharing will begin in the eighth year.
Airport security will be impenetrable
Noida International Airport has implemented world-class security measures. To strengthen the security perimeter, a seven-foot-high boundary wall topped with barbed wire will be erected, and 15 wires will be installed on two-foot-high poles, which will be electrified 24 hours a day. 360-degree and high-resolution cameras have been installed every 50 meters. 1,031 CISF personnel will monitor the airport 24 hours a day.
Provides state-of-the-art mobile connectivity
To provide state-of-the-art mobile connectivity, Saudi Arabia’s ACES is developing 4G and 5G mobile infrastructure at the airport. ACES India will begin providing improved connectivity by installing mobile towers away from the runway, keeping safety standards in mind, before the airport’s opening.
Multi-modal cargo hub built on 30 acres
A multi-modal cargo hub is ready at the airport, allowing farmers from Gautam Buddha Nagar, western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan to easily access agricultural produce to markets both domestically and internationally. Construction of an 8.25-kilometer road connecting the cargo terminal to the Yamuna Expressway is progressing rapidly. NHAI is working to expedite the construction of this 30-meter-wide, four-lane road.
Connectivity makes it unmatched
Noida International Airport’s connectivity is unmatched. A 31-kilometer link road has been built to connect it to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. A 750-meter-long road has been built to connect it to the Yamuna Expressway. Work is underway to connect it to the Ganga Expressway. An interchange is being constructed to connect it to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

The North Central Railway has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for a 61-kilometer rail link connecting Delhi to Mumbai and Delhi to Howrah. Central government approval is awaited for connecting the airport via the Namo Bharat Rail via Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.
Buses will transport passengers to the airport.
Contracts have been signed with the Haryana, Delhi, and Uttarakhand Transport Corporations for passenger transportation to Noida Airport. Contracts with the Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporations are in the process. Cities such as Chandigarh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Haldwani, Rohtak, Panipat, Gurugram, and Faridabad will be directly connected to the airport.
In 2019, 1,334 hectares of land was acquired from farmers in six villages in Jewar: Rohi, Parohi, Ranhera, Banwariwas, Kishorepur, Dayanatpur, Dayanatpur Khera, Nagla Ganeshi, and Nagla Chhitar. Seven villages, including Rohi, Nagla Ganeshi, Nagla Chhitar, Nagla Phoolkhan, Kishorepur Anshik, Nagla Sharif, and Dayanatpur Khera, were displaced for the airport’s construction. The 3,065 displaced families were resettled in a colony in Jewar Bangar.

Dainik Jagran’s report about the Noida International Airport’s opening has been confirmed. Dainik Jagran previously published a report stating that the Noida airport would open in October. The Union Civil Aviation Minister confirmed Dainik Jagran’s report by announcing the Noida airport’s opening on October 30th.
