Vande Bharat: Good news has arrived regarding the Vande Bharat train to Kashmir. This train will now stop at Reasi station, greatly benefiting the people living in and around Reasi.
Wednesday was a significant day for the people of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district when the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express stopped at Reasi railway station for the first time, marking a new chapter in rail connectivity in the valley.
MLA of Reasi, Kuldeep Raj Dubey, flagged off the train from Reasi Railway Station. DDC Chairman Reasi Saraf Singh Nag, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal and other senior railway officials were present on the occasion, and an enthusiastic crowd of over 500 locals gathered to witness this historic moment.
According to an official release, starting Thursday, the Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express train will make a two-minute stop at Reasi railway station. The train will depart from Katra railway station at 08:10 am and reach Reasi railway station at 08:28 am, continuing its journey towards Srinagar. Similarly, the train will return to Reasi railway station at 17:34 pm.
Previously, the Vande Bharat Express had only a stop at Banihal between Katra and Srinagar. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said that the stop at Reasi is a direct result of persistent public demand and aims to enhance travel convenience for passengers from Reasi and surrounding areas. The stop at Reasi will further strengthen connectivity in the region, benefiting pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and tourists visiting the Chenab Bridge and surrounding tourist destinations.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express on June 6, 2025. This marks a milestone in the history of Indian Railways. It is the first rail service to connect the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region via the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge.
