Railways has started a big facility for the passengers. Now the devotees coming to Katra to visit Vaishno Devi or people traveling within Jammu and Kashmir will be able to reach Srinagar more easily. Indian Railways has decided to run four Vande Bharat Express trains between Srinagar and Katra. The start of these trains has been possible after the construction of tunnels and bridges on the Banihal-Baramula railway route connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India.
What is the route and timing?
All the four Vande Bharat trains will be run on different routes between Katra, Jammu, Banihal and Baramula respectively. This will benefit local passengers as well as pilgrims. Jammu Tawi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week. This train will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra every day at 8:10 am and will reach Banihal at 9:58 and Srinagar station at 11:10 am. Similarly, the second train going from Katra to Srinagar via Banihal will depart from Katra at 2:55 pm and reach Srinagar at 6 pm.
While Srinagar to Jammu Tawi Vande Bharat Express will depart from Srinagar station at 8 am 6 days a week except Wednesday and will reach Banihal at 9:02. This train will reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 11:05. The second train will depart from Srinagar station at 2 pm every day except Tuesday and will reach Banihal at 3:10 pm and Katra at 5:05 pm. AC chair car and executive class coaches have been installed in all these trains.
How much will the fare be?
For now, the Vande Bharat Express which will be run from Katra to Srinagar from June 7 will run during the day only. The last railway station will be till Srinagar only, not till Baramulla. The chair car fare in Vande Bharat running from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar in the morning will be Rs 715 and the executive class fare will be Rs 1320. Whereas in the afternoon Vande Bharat, the chair car fare has been kept at Rs 880 and the fare for the executive class is Rs 1515.
What will be the benefit for the passengers?
With the start of these trains, those going to Srinagar after visiting Vaishno Devi will no longer need long distance bus or taxi service. According to the railways, the timing of the trains has been kept in such a way that the passengers can get maximum connectivity in the morning or evening.
This initiative is also expected to give impetus to tourism and local business in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the railways, the direct rail connectivity between Srinagar and Katra will not only benefit the pilgrims but will also increase the number of tourists coming to the valley.
