FASTag Kilometer Based Policy: If you also like to travel on long routes by your car, then this news will make you happy. After a long wait, the government is preparing to bring a new toll policy soon. The government’s new toll policy will provide great relief to those traveling on expressways and national highways across the country. Sources claimed that under the new policy, FASTag and cameras will be installed at every toll plaza. The toll charge money will be deducted directly from the car owner’s account.

The more the km travelled, the more the toll tax

Sources claimed that after the new policy is introduced, the more the kilometres travelled, the more toll tax will have to be paid. In the new system, the cameras installed at the toll booth will record the number plate of every vehicle and the toll charge will be deducted through FASTag. Sources say that this new toll policy will be economical and convenient than the existing system. This will give people relief from the daily hassles and long queues at the toll plaza.

How many km did you travel on the highway?

The Fastag based km toll policy is a new system in which the toll charge will be taken on the basis of how many km you travelled on the highway. Currently, a fixed fee has to be paid at the toll plaza whether you use the entire route or not. But in the new policy, you will pay only for the km you travelled on the highway. This charge will be automatically deducted from your Fastag account.

How will this policy work?

Use of GPS: GPS (satellite navigation) technology will be used in this system. It will track the route of your car and the toll charge will be calculated on that basis. The aim of the policy is to remove toll plazas so that you do not have to stop for long and the journey becomes fast and easy. Media reports are claiming that a car will have to pay around Rs 50 for every 100 km.

What are the benefits?

You will pay only for the distance you have used the highway. Apart from this, time and fuel will be saved and there will be no need to stop at the toll plaza. Toll will be deducted automatically through GPS, Automatic Number Plate Reader (ANPR) and cameras.
