The process related to birth and death certificate has become easier now. The Municipal Corporation has issued new guidelines for this. Now no citizen will have to run around much, because the certificate will be available directly from the ward office. The corporation claims that birth and death certificates will now be issued within 21 days. Earlier this process used to take months.

Applications will be settled at ward and zone level only

Under the new rules, all applications received within 21 days will be processed at the respective ward office or zone level. This means that people will not need to go directly to the corporation headquarters. On the other hand, if an application is submitted within a period of 22 to 30 days, it will be sent to the corporation headquarters. If the matter is between 31 days to one year, then it will be mandatory for the applicant to give an affidavit.

Changes made in the fee structure

The Municipal Corporation has also changed the fee for issuing certificates. Now the price of a certificate has been fixed at Rs 50. However, if the application is made within 21 days, then no fee will be charged. If the application is made between 22 to 30 days, then a fee of Rs 20 will have to be paid. While those applying between 31 days to one year will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 and submit an affidavit on a stamp paper of Rs 50.

Penalty for old cases

A fine will also be imposed on cases where more than a year has passed. The corporation has decided that a fine of Rs 250 will have to be paid per year, which can go up to a maximum of Rs 1,000. This system has been implemented with the aim of updating old cases on time and keeping the records correct.

Additional fees will also have to be paid

The corporation has also fixed some additional charges. If someone wants to search for a record, then they will have to pay Rs 20. At the same time, a fee of Rs 50 will be charged for issuing a duplicate copy. Apart from this, a fee of Rs 20 has also been fixed for issuing a NOC (No Objection Certificate).

Citizens will benefit

The biggest benefit of the new system will be to the common citizens. Now they will not have to wait for months to get the certificate made nor will they have to visit the headquarters again and again. The certificate will be available in just 21 days and the fee has also been made clear and systematic as compared to earlier.
