MIAL had said that on May 8, from 11 am to 5 pm, both runways – primary (09/27) and secondary (14/32) will be temporarily closed for maintenance work. During this time, no flight will take off or land from the airport.

This work is done every year

Let us tell you that this is a pre-monsoon maintenance work done every year, which is very important for the safety and longevity of the airport infrastructure. During this time, experts inspect the runway surface to check for any wear or damage. Apart from this, necessary measures are taken to prevent waterlogging so that safe takeoff and landing can be ensured during the monsoon.
