Mitchell Starc t20 Retirement: Sydney: Australia’s main fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who has earned a name as the world’s most dangerous fast bowler, has announced his retirement from cricket’s fast format T20. It is being told that Starc has announced his retirement from T20 International to prioritize Australia’s busy Test schedule at the end of next year and the 2027 ODI World Cup.

How has Starc’s cricket career been?

35-year-old Starc may have announced his retirement from this fast format of cricket, but his cricket career has been great. Talking about T-20, he has played an important role in taking Australian cricket to the top. In the fastest format, Starc has taken 79 wickets in 65 matches at an average of 23.8. His economy rate has been 7.74.

Similarly, Starc has taken 402 wickets in 100 Tests and 244 wickets in 127 ODIs. Starc’s average in both formats is 27 and 23.4 respectively. In this way, Starc has taken more than 700 wickets in international cricket.

‘Test cricket is my priority’

Speaking to ESPN on his retirement, Starc said, “Test cricket has always been my top priority. I have enjoyed every minute of every T20 match I have played for Australia, especially for the 2021 World Cup, not only because we won, but also because we were in an incredible group and more than that we enjoyed it.” Starc said, “Given the Test tour of India, the Ashes and the ODI World Cup in 2027, I think this is the best way for me to be fresh, fit and perform at my best for these campaigns.” He further said, “This will also give the bowling team time to prepare for the matches before the T20 World Cup.”
