If you are a member of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and have not yet been able to activate your Universal Account Number (UAN), you can generate your UAN number by following the 7 steps given here. Before that, know what benefits you will get from activating UAN.
Benefits of UAN number
– You can monitor your PF account using UAN.
– If there are more than one PF accounts, you can see the details of all your accounts at one place using UAN.
– Through UAN you can check your PF account passbook online
– Through UAN you can withdraw some money from your account online
– Through UAN you can transfer the amount of one account to another.
You can generate your UAN number at home ..
– First you go to the official website of EPFO www.epfindia.gov.in
– Then select ‘Our Services’ and click on ‘For Employees’
– After this the user Click on ‘Member UAN / Online Services’
– then click on ‘Activate Your UAN’ (it will be present on the bottom right of the important links)
– Now your personal information like UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number and captcha and Then click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’
– OTP will come on your registered mobile number. You have to click on ‘I Agree’ and press Enter.
Finally click on ‘Validate OTP and Activate UAN’.
You will also get details related to the PF account on the UMANG app of the Government of India. An employee can also activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) using this app.
