With the implementation of e-advance ruling scheme, the tax payer will not need to come to the CBDT office for hearing. In the hearing, he will be able to present his side by appearing through video conferencing. Notices will also be sent to the tax payer on e-mail. NRI taxpayers will get a lot of convenience from this scheme.

New Delhi. E-advance ruling scheme: There is good news for the tax payer. To settle tax related matters, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has implemented the e-advance ruling scheme. With this, complaints of income tax related matters will be settled online. Tax payers will also be able to appear in the hearing through video conferencing. The government issued its notification on Wednesday.

This facility will be of great benefit to such NRIs, whose tax liabilities are also in India and cannot come to India to attend the hearing of tax related matters. Such people will apply to CBDT through e-mail and on that basis their case will be heard through video conferencing or video telephony.

Video conferencing hearing

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), while notifying the e-advance rules scheme, has said that the hearing before the Advance Rulings Board will be done through video conferencing or video call. Notices etc. will be sent to the registered e-mail of the tax payer. This will facilitate the tax payer to present his case. Advance tax decision or advance tax ruling has been arranged in the Income Tax Act so that the situation can be cleared to the migrant taxpayer. Apart from this, this system will also be applicable for certain types of taxpayers.

You can take advantage like this

According to the e-advance rules scheme, the applicant himself or through any of his representatives can reply to the notice or order regarding tax given to him online. He will not be required to appear before the CBDT for the hearing. They will be able to attend the hearing through video conferencing. Till now the same rule was that the taxpayer had to appear for advance ruling. Apart from this, they will be able to reply to the notice of CBDT by e-mail.

Rakesh Nangia, chairman of Nangia Andersen India, told PTI-language that the implementation of the system of applying through email and electronic means will make a lot of convenience for NRIs in hearing tax matters. In this new arrangement between the tax payer, income tax officer and the board of advance ruling electronically, time will be saved and the tax payer will not face any problem.
