Form 16

If you do a job, then your employer will give you Form 16. It contains complete information about your annual salary, TDS and tax. Do not forget to check it by matching it with your pay slips.

Form 26AS and AIS

Form 26AS shows TDS, advance tax and high-value transactions. AIS also provides details of bank interest, shares, FD. Check both carefully.

Bank and post office interest certificates

It is necessary to show the interest received from your savings account, FD or post office scheme in ITR. For this, take a certificate of interest from the bank or post office.

Proof of investment under Section 80C, 80D, 80E

If you have spent on PPF, ELSS, LIC, health insurance or home loan, then keep its receipts or statements safe. These help in saving tax.

Home loan and education loan details

To avail the benefit of home loan interest (Section 24b) and interest on education loan (Section 80E), take a statement from the bank. This can provide a lot of relief in tax.

Capital gain statements

If you have sold stocks, mutual funds or property, then submit the capital gain statements related to it. This will help you show the profit or loss correctly.

Self assessment tax and advance tax receipts

If you have deposited any tax yourself, then keep its challan copy or receipt safe. It is important to add this to your ITR.

Check all the documents

Before filing ITR, check all the documents once again. This will prevent any mistakes and will also help you in getting refund or tax claim easily.
