But this year the Income Tax Department took some time to release the ITR form. It is believed that some important changes were made in the tax laws in the last budget. This is the reason why there was a delay in the arrival of the form because according to the new rules, it was also necessary to improve the ITR form. However, till now the government has not updated the utilities required to file ITR on the e-filing portal.
Where do problems arise in filing ITR?
It is believed that in the next one week, the Income Tax Department will complete the work of necessary utilities, but the real problem is not just the availability of utilities. Actually, taxpayers face another problem of TDS data.
Actually, the information of TDS deducted in the last quarter of the financial year is updated in Form 26AS only when the Income Tax Department processes it. This work is done till 31 May. That is, if a person or organization wants to file ITR before May but does not have the TDS data of the last quarter, then there may be a problem in filing the return.
You can file ITR even without Form 16
Apart from this, taxpayers usually get Form 16 from their employer only after June 15. Because when the TDS of the last quarter is processed and starts appearing in Form 26AS, about 15 days after that the employer issues Form 16. However, it is not necessary to have Form 16 to file ITR. Taxpayers can file their income tax returns with the help of Form 26AS, salary slip and other necessary documents.
Will the date for filing ITR be extended?

In the last few years, the government has definitely extended the deadline, but this time no such situation is seen yet. Therefore, until something is clarified by the government or the Income Tax Department, the last date is July 31 only.
