ITR Filing 2025: Tax payment will be done on e-Filing portal only through these banks, see the complete list here

ITR Filing: The Income Tax Department has started the ‘e-Pay Tax’ facility. Now taxpayers can easily pay tax online. This facility has been provided in 31 banks. Which also includes newly added banks and migrated banks.

Income Tax: Taxpayers across the country have now started filing ITR. Some time ago, the date of ITR filing (ITR Filing Last Date) has been extended by the Income Tax Department till September 15. In such a situation, this date is coming very close. For this, taxpayers can file their tax returns using ITR-1 or ITR-4. It is worth noting that the Excel utilities of other income tax forms including ITR-2 and ITR-3 have not been released yet.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has updated the list of banks under e-Pay Tax Service on the e-Filing Portal to increase the convenience of taxpayers. Now 31 banks are available for this facility. Which also includes newly added banks and migrated banks. This change will ensure easy and convenient tax payment by giving more options to taxpayers.

If you also want to pay tax through e-filing portal, then first of all know through which banks you can make tax payment. The Income Tax Department has recently updated the list. Now the new list of banks includes Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India and City Union of Bank. At the same time, the two new banks included in the list in the year 2025 are Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank (effective from March 5) and Yes Bank (effective from June 27).

Apart from this, State Bank of India, DCB Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, IDFC First Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IndusInd Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab and Sindh Bank, Punjab National Bank, RBL Bank, South Indian Bank, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited, UCO Bank are included.

How to make tax payment from other banks?

If your bank is not in the list of Authorized Banks, then you can use NEFT/RTGS or Payment Gateway for tax payment. Under this facility, currently Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Federal Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and Kotak Bank are providing this facility.

Process of paying e-tax

Payment can be made by visiting the official website of the Income Tax Department and going to the Quick Links section using pre-login or post-login methods. Taxpayers will have to generate challan for payment.

E-filing means completing the entire process of filing tax returns online. Taxpayers need PAN based login credentials to start e-filing. Taxpayers have many options for tax payment, such as net banking, debit/credit card, UPI and the option to pay at the bank counter.
