ITR Filing 2025: The Income Tax Department has extended the last date for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 and assessment year 2025-26. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date for filing Income Tax Returns to 15 September 2025. At the same time, all ITR forms have also been issued by the Income Tax Department. Now people have also started filing Income Tax Returns.
This year, some changes have been made in the rules for filing income tax returns. Due to which there has been a delay in issuing the ITR form. This is the reason why the Income Tax Department has changed the last date. Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has given information on how to do e-filing on the social media platform X. The department says that people should keep 4 things in mind while filing returns.
1. Select the correct ITR form
The Income Tax Department says that it is very important to select the correct form while filing ITR. If the wrong form is selected then the entire process will have to be followed again.
2 – Always check the information provided
While filing income tax return, all the information is already filled in the form. Match that information with your Form-16. Otherwise, if you file the return with a mistake, you may be served a notice by the Income Tax Department.
3 – Avoid mistakes
The Income Tax Department says that one should avoid mistakes like spelling of one’s name. There should not be any spelling mistake. One should always avoid common mistakes.
4 – Use the utility
While filing your income tax returns, use smart utilities on the e-filing portal to make the process simpler and easier.
