The country’s leading airline IndiGo has started direct flights from the national capital Delhi to Guangzhou in China. According to the company, Delhi has become the second Indian city after Kolkata from where non-stop flight service to Guangzhou will now be available.- Advertisement -
According to PTI news, the airline said that daily direct flights between Delhi-Guangzhou have been started from November 10, which are being operated by A320neo narrow-body aircraft.
Flights have also started from Kolkata.
According to the report, with this new service, IndiGo now connects Delhi to 21 international destinations. Previously, flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou resumed on October 26th. On November 9th, China Eastern Airlines launched direct flights between Delhi and Shanghai. The decision to resume direct flights between India and China was made following recent diplomatic efforts.
Flights were suspended for many years
Notably, direct flights between the two countries operated until early 2020, but were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, these services remained suspended for a long time due to the eastern Ladakh border dispute.

According to Skyscanner, the fare for a one-way direct flight from Delhi to Guangzhou on November 16 is ₹24,738. This direct flight departs Delhi at 21:45 and arrives in Guangzhou at 4:50 PM, a journey time of 4 hours and 35 minutes.
IndiGo and China Southern Airlines enter into codeshare partnership
The country’s leading airline IndiGo is planning to soon enter into a codeshare partnership with China Southern Airlines to provide better and convenient air connectivity to passengers to cities in China. On Tuesday, both the airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which codeshare partnership and mutual cooperation will be established. However, this agreement is subject to regulatory approval. Generally, under a codeshare partnership, an airline allows its passengers to travel on a partner airline’s flight through a single ticket.
