In such a situation, if you are thinking of traveling with a senior citizen with you, then this news is of your use. Know how you can get a confirmed lower seat for a senior citizen traveling with you.

How senior citizens get lower berths

Indian Railways recently told that by taking which precautions during ticket booking, you get a confirmed lower berth in the train. Indian Railways official Twitter handle Indian Railways Seva gave this information in response to a question from a Twitter user.

A Twitter user asked Indian Railways how railways allot confirmed seats for its passengers. Actually the person told that 3 senior citizens were traveling with him, who got upper, millid and side lower seat by the railways.

What is the rule

Giving its clarification on this, Indian Railways said that the quota of reserved lower seats for senior citizens is applicable only to men above 60 years of age and women above 45 years of age. Apart from this, the Railways gives a confirmed lower berth to senior citizens in the same situation, when maximum two senior citizens are traveling.

Railways said that if traveling with more than two senior citizens or one being a senior citizen and the other people not being a senior citizen, the railway does not consider the confirmed lower seat.
