Emergency Quota Reservations: If you and your family often travel by train, then this news is useful for you. Yes, the rules related to ticket booking for passengers have been made more strict than before by the Indian Railways. This change has been made under Emergency Quota Reservation. Actually, the Railway Ministry got the information that people are booking tickets wrongly under the emergency quota. This change has been made after receiving such complaints continuously.
New rules for emergency quota
The Railway Ministry has directed all 17 railway zones not to accept any demand from travel agents to book seats under the emergency quota. In 2011, the Railways had issued guidelines for this quota. Now these rules have been asked to be strictly followed. According to the new rules, written requests for emergency quota will be accepted only with the signature of a gazetted officer. The requester will have to give his name, designation, phone number and the mobile number of one of the passengers.
The request will be recorded in the register
The Railways has also directed every officer, section and federation to keep a register. Detailed details of all requests related to emergency quota will be recorded in this register. This information will include the date of travel, place and source of the requester etc. The diary number of the register will also be written on the request. It will be the responsibility of the person sending the request to give correct and clear information to the passengers.
Ban on travel agents
The Railway Ministry has clearly said that requests coming from travel agents will not be accepted. Officials have also been advised to avoid wrong requests. Railways have also ordered regular checking of Passenger Reservation System (PRS). This checking will be done to prevent collusion between ticket brokers and reservation office employees. Apart from this, all request letters have been asked to be kept safe for three months from the date of travel. With these new rules, the aim of the Railways is to stop the misuse of emergency quota and make ticket booking more transparent.
