Indian Passport Holders: The road to the Caucasus has now become easier for Indian travelers. According to reports, Georgia has relaxed its visa policy for Indian citizens. Under this, visa-free entry has been allowed to those who already have a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Schengen Area or Japan.

Indian Passport Holders: The move is expected to boost tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries. This update removes a significant barrier for many Indian travelers, especially those looking for affordable and beautiful destinations without any paperwork. According to Georgian officials, the policy aims to make the country more accessible to one of the world’s fastest growing tourism markets.

Georgian visa not required for eligible travelers

Indian passport holders will no longer need a separate Georgian visa if they meet the eligibility criteria. This includes a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Schengen Area or Japan. For others, Georgia has simplified its visa application process.

Documents required for Georgia’s visa application process

  • Passport size photo
  • Scanned copy of bio page of passport
  • Contact details and Aadhaar card linked to Aadhaar
  • PAN card
  • Financial documents (six months bank statement, three years ITR)
  • Proof of employment (salary slip, ID or job letter)
  • This simple checklist is aimed at ensuring that the application is processed in an efficient and transparent manner.

Use official channels

Georgian authorities have requested Indian travellers to use only official government portals to apply and obtain travel related information. This is to prevent online fraud and discourage unauthorized agents. It is advisable to prepare in advance to avoid delays and ensure a smooth travel.

Travel industry experts see this as a strategic move to attract Indian travellers. Georgia is known for its mountain landscapes, ancient churches, vineyards, the Caucasus and the vibrant capital Tbilisi.
