IMD Rain Alert: Heavy to very heavy rains on 7,8,9,10,11 August, severe weather, high alert in many states

Heavy Rain Warning: Rain continues in most states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may continue in many areas of East, West, North India, Central India, Northeast India, South India.

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rains as well as extremely heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh. Rains are also likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Punjab in the coming days.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in different states from 6 to 11 August. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 5 days. Extremely heavy rain is forecast at some places in Kerala on August 6. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in Northeast and adjoining East India during the next 7 days.

Very heavy rains are likely at some places in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Uttar Pradesh during August 6 to 11. Light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning may occur at some places in the Western Himalayan region and plains during the next 7 days.

According to IMD, thunder, lightning and rain may continue at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during August 6 to 11. There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains at some places. There is a possibility of very heavy rains at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 7 to 11 August and in Nagaland on 7 and 8 August.

Rainfall in East and Central India including Bengal-Bihar

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains at some places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar between 6 to 11 August. There is a possibility of very heavy rains in some areas of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh during 6 to 8 August. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains along with lightning at many places in these areas during the next 5 days.

Rainfall will continue in West India

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains at some places in Marathwada, Goa, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra during 6 to 7 August. According to the IMD, light to moderate rains may continue at these places during the next 5 to 6 days.

South Peninsular India Extremely heavy rains

According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rains are likely at isolated places over northern parts of Kerala and ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on August 6. Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema during August 6 to 8. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds may also blow over South Peninsular India during the next 2 days.
