IMD Rain Alert: Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in these states between 8 to 13 August, know details

Heavy Rain Alert: Monsoon is showing its fierce form across the country. Rain has become a disaster in many states. Rivers and streams are overflowing due to torrential rains. Many areas are flooded. The Meteorological Department estimates that many states of the country may receive heavy rainfall for the next 7 days. Many states may receive heavy rains and sometimes very heavy rains. IMD has issued an alert for some areas.

Heavy Rain Alert: India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in many parts of the country for the next seven days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and northeastern states. According to IMD, heavy rains are likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from 7 to 13 August. Extremely heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh on 8 August.

  • Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West.

Heavy rain in Northeast India including Assam and Meghalaya

According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh on August 8. Light to moderate rains may continue at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during August 7 to 13. There will be thunderstorms in many areas. Very heavy rains will occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh during 7 to 12 August. Rains are likely over Assam and Meghalaya on 7, 8, 12 and 13 August, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 7 and 8 August.

Heavy rains in Northwest India including Himachal and Uttarakhand

Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh during 7 to 13 August. Heavy rains are likely over Haryana on 11 August, Uttar Pradesh during 7, 8 and 11 to 13 August, Jammu and Kashmir on 13 August. Heavy rains are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during 10-13 August. According to IMD, rains accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at some places over the western Himalayan region and plains during the next 7 days.

Heavy rains over southern peninsular India

Heavy rains are likely at some places over Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rayalaseema during 7 to 9 August. Heavy rains are expected in Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 7 and 8 August. Heavy rains are expected in Tamil Nadu on 8 August. Strong winds may blow in South Peninsular India during the next 2 days. The wind speed may be 40 to 50 kmph. During the next 5 days, light to moderate rains, thundershowers and lightning are likely at some places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana.

Heavy rains in eastern and central India

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are likely at some places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during August 7 to 13. Very heavy rains are likely over Odisha during 7th to 9th August, Bihar during 7th to 9th, 12th and 13th August, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand on 7th and 8th August, Chhattisgarh during 11th to 13th August, Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 11th August, Vidarbha on 13th August, Bihar on 8th August.

Weather forecast of West India

Heavy rains are likely over Marathwada on 7th and 8th August. Heavy rains are likely over Konkan and Goa on 7th, 8th, 12th and 13th August. Light to moderate rains are likely at many places over the region during next 5 to 6 days.
