IMD Rain Alert: Heavy to very heavy rain for 5-6 days, havoc of monsoon, high alert for many areas

Weather Forecast: Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many states of the country for the next 5 to 6 days. The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana. Apart from this, very heavy rains may also occur in coastal West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand of the Ganges during July 24 to 27. IMD has issued an alert for many areas.

Weather Forecast: The havoc of monsoon will continue for now. The India Meteorological Department has forecast that heavy to very heavy rains may continue in many states of the country for the next three to four days. The IMD has predicted that heavy rains may occur in many parts of Konkan and the Ghat areas of Western Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the Ghat areas of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, Satara and Kolhapur. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the next 6 to 7 days. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand during July 24 to 27.

Heavy Rain Alert in West India

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Konkan and Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during July 23 to 28.

Heavy rainfall is likely over Marathwada on July 26. Heavy rainfall is also likely over the state of Gujarat during July 26 to 28.

Extremely Heavy Rain Alert in East and Central India

Heavy rains may continue at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during July 23 to 28. Heavy rain is likely in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic plains during 24 to 28 July.
Very heavy rain is likely at some places in western Madhya Pradesh during 26 to 28 July.
Heavy rain is likely in eastern Madhya Pradesh during 25 to 28 July, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh on 23 to 26 July

Very heavy rain is likely in North-West India (Monsoon Alert)

  • According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely at some places in Jammu and Kashmir during 23 to 24 July.
  • Heavy rain may occur in Himachal Pradesh during 26 to 28 July, Uttarakhand during 23 to 28 July.
  • Heavy rain is likely in Punjab, Haryana on 23, 27 and 28 July, Uttar Pradesh during 25 to 28 July, western Rajasthan on 27 and 28 July.
  • Very heavy rainfall is likely in Jammu and Kashmir during 26 to 28 July.
  • According to the IMD, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the western Himalayan region and plains during the next 7 days.

Heavy Rain Alert in Northeast India

  • According to the IMD, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to continue at many places in Northeast India during the next 7 days.
  • Heavy rain is likely at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura during July 23 to 28.
  • Meghalaya may receive very heavy rain on 23 July.

Weather Forecast of South India

  • According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely at some places in Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu during July 23 to 28.
  • Heavy rain may occur at some places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana during July 23 to 26.
  • Very heavy rains are expected at some places in Kerala during 25-27 July. According to IMD, strong winds may blow in South Peninsular India during the next 5 days. The wind speed can be up to 40 to 50 km per hour.
