IMD Rain Alert: Relief showers have started in many parts of the country amid the scorching heat. As the monsoon progresses, the range of rain is also expanding. While it is raining heavily in South India and Northeast states, pre-monsoon showers have made the weather pleasant in parts of Delhi and North India. The capital Delhi has recorded a drop in temperature due to strong winds and light rain, and a yellow alert has also been issued for today.
Where did the monsoon go?
The Southwest Monsoon has so far reached most parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. According to the Meteorological Department, in the next two days, this monsoon may extend further to Gujarat, Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh and North Arabian Sea.
Change of weather in Delhi
The pre-monsoon rains in the capital city of Delhi have brought relief from the scorching heat. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is possible this evening or night. There is a possibility of intermittent rain for the next three days, due to which the temperature may fall further.
Red alert for these states
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), two low pressure areas are active.Â
- A in the Gangetic plains of Bangladesh and West Bengal
- Second in Gujarat region
Heavy to very heavy rains may occur in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha due to the impact of these pressures. A red alert has been issued for these areas.

- Western Himalayan region, Haryana, Rajasthan: Light to moderate rain
- Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana: Scattered light rain

- Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Andaman-Nicobar and Lakshadweep: Continuous rain conditions
- South Gujarat: Warning of very heavy rain in next 24 hours
