Heavy Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many states of the country for the next seven days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains may continue over the west coast Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Goa during the next 7 days.
Heavy Rain Alert: The southwest monsoon has entered the country. The monsoon will now advance over some more parts of Karnataka, entire Goa, parts of Maharashtra and some more parts of Mizoram, including some parts of Manipur and Nagaland. Conditions are favorable for the advancement of monsoon over some more parts of Maharashtra, South India and Northeast states. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue over Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Goa during the next 7 days. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala on 26 May. Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rains are likely over the coastal and valley areas of Karnataka during 26 to 27 May.
IMD issued warning
According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area persists over South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and adjoining areas of North Interior Karnataka. It is slowly moving eastward during the next few hours. It is likely to gradually weaken.
The upper air pressure is moving southward from the East Arabian Sea through North Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, North Telangana, South Chhattisgarh at low and middle tropospheric levels.
A cyclonic circulation of upper air over western Uttar Pradesh and another cyclonic circulation over southwestern Rajasthan at lower tropospheric levels persist. A low pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around May 27.
Heavy rain warning in South Peninsular India
- According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at some places in Kerala and Mahe today i.e. on May 26. Apart from this, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely during 27 to 31 May. Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rains at isolated places is likely over coastal and south interior Karnataka during 26 to 27 May. This will be followed by heavy to very heavy rainfall during 28 to 31 May.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over north interior Karnataka during 26 to 27 May and heavy rainfall during 28 to 30 May.
- Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rains accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema and Telangana during the next 5 days.

- Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely over Madhya Pradesh during 26 to 29 May, and rain with speed of 40 to 50 kmph over Bihar during 26 to 31 May.
- Thunderstorms with speed of 50 to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph are likely over East Madhya Pradesh on 26 May, and rain with speed of 50 to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over Bihar on 26 May.
Thunderstorms and lightning likely over Northwest India
- Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely over Uttarakhand during 26 to 31 May. Scattered to light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 kmph are likely over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during 27 to 30 May.
- There may be hailstorm at some places in Himachal Pradesh on 27th and 28th May.
