IMD Rain Alert: Big news! Heavy to very heavy rain from 30 May to 2 June, stormy wind with thunder, IMD high alert

Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many parts of the country in the coming days. According to the IMD, a low pressure area is formed over the northwestern part of the Bay of Bengal. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue over Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Goa during the next 2 to 3 days. The Meteorological Department has predicted that very heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely over the northeastern states and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rains are occurring in many states of the country. Heavy to very heavy rains are being witnessed in many areas. The India Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of strong westerly winds at the lower troposphere level over Kerala and Lakshadweep region during the next 2 to 3 days. According to the Meteorological Department, under their influence, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at some places in Kerala. Strong winds may also blow along with thunderstorms at many places.

Possibility of very heavy rain

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at scattered places in Kerala on May 31, June 1 and 2. Red alert has been issued in 8 districts of the state, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasargod. Orange alert has been issued in 6 districts Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. According to IMD, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in many areas.

Low pressure in Bay of Bengal

A deep low pressure area lies over northwest Bay of Bengal today. Under its influence, very heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely over northeastern states and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till May 31. Exceptionally heavy rains are likely at some places in Meghalaya on May 30.

Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on May 30 and reduce thereafter.

Thunderstorms and strong winds are likely over northwest India for the next 4 to 5 days with the western disturbance.

Heavy rain warning

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places over Konkan and Goa, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, coastal and south interior Karnataka. Apart from this, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha.

Where has the southwest monsoon reached?

The southwest monsoon has advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, remaining parts of Karnataka, most of Telangana, remaining parts of Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha and remaining parts of west-central Bay of Bengal. According to a report by Skymet Weather, during the next 24 to 48 hours, conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, remaining parts of northeastern states and some parts of West Bengal and Sikkim.

Where will it rain heavily today?

Today (May 30), heavy to very heavy rains may occur in parts of Bangladesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. Heavy to very heavy rains are possible in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on May 30. Coastal Karnataka may receive light to moderate rain with heavy rain at some places. Vidarbha, Telangana and Kerala may receive light to moderate rain with heavy rain at one or two places. Apart from this, light to moderate rain and thundershowers may occur in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, South Chhattisgarh and South-West Madhya Pradesh. Light rain with dust storm is possible in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Light rain may occur in Bihar, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh and South Gujarat.
