IMD Rain Alert: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains, thunderstorms, strong winds and heat in Northeast India, South India and some plains. Let’s know, how is the weather going to be today?

IMD Rain Alert: The weather will remain changed in many parts of the country for the next few days. While on the one hand, some places may get relief from heavy rains, on the other hand, heat and heat will bother many areas. In such a situation, the India Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains, thunderstorms, strong winds and heat in Northeast India, South India and some plains.

Heavy to very heavy rain alert in these states

Meghalaya: Extremely heavy rainfall is expected at some places in Meghalaya on May 13.

Nicobar Islands: Very heavy rainfall may occur on May 13.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura: Heavy rains with strong winds are expected from May 13 to 16.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim: Rainfall from 13th to 16th May, with extremely heavy rainfall on 13th.

South India (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rayalaseema): Heavy rain and thundershowers likely from 13th to 16th May.

Severe thunderstorm and lightning warning

Thunderstorm with lightning and winds 30-40 kmph: Andaman Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha.

Lightning and gusty winds 40-50 kmph: Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura etc from 13th to 16th May.

Thundersquall with winds of 50-60 km/h: Maharashtra, Marathwada, Assam-Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during 13 to 15 May.

People may be troubled by heat and humidity

Heatwave alert: Heat wave-like conditions may develop in some areas of Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim.

Hot and humid weather: Humidity will increase with heat in Jharkhand, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Hot nights: Night temperatures will be above normal in eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Vigilance is also necessary in marine areas

According to the Meteorological Department, squally weather is likely to persist with strong winds of 45-55 km/h over Somalia coast, Sri Lanka coast, Comorin area and South Andaman Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
