According to the Meteorological Department, very heavy rains with thunder and lightning are likely in Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 5 to 6 days. According to the ISD, heavy rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds are likely in South Peninsular India during the next 5 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of strong winds along with rain in many areas of the country in the next 7 days. The wind speed can be 30 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Weather change in Delhi
The weather has once again taken a turn in the country’s capital Delhi. Heavy rains with strong winds occurred in many areas. The Meteorological Department estimates that the weather will remain the same in Delhi for the next one or two days. It rained in many areas on Friday, the IMD estimates that the period of rain and strong wind may continue even today. Heavy to very heavy rain in Northeast India
- According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Northeast India during the next 7 days.
- During this time strong winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour.
- Heavy rain may occur at different places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 16 to 21 May.
- Very heavy rainfall may occur at different places in Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya on 17 and 18 May.
- Today i.e. on 17 May, very heavy rain is likely at different places in Arunachal Pradesh.
Rain, lightning and strong winds in West India
Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of 30 to 50 kmph are likely in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada during 17 to 20 May. Light to heavy rains are likely in many areas. Strong winds of 50 to 60 kmph are likely in Madhya Maharashtra on 20 and 21 May and in Konkan and Goa during 19 to 21 May, which may increase to 70 kmph. On 20 May, sporadic to heavy rains may occur in South Madhya Maharashtra, South Konkan and Goa. On the other hand, very heavy rains may occur in Konkan on 21 and 22 May.
Weather conditions in eastern and central India
According to the Meteorological Department, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive scattered to light to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 30 to 50 kmph during the next 7 days. Strong winds at the speed of 50-60 kmph are likely in Odisha on May 17, Bihar on May 17 and 18, Jharkhand on May 18 and 19 and Chhattisgarh on May 17. Scattered to heavy rains are likely in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during May 16 to 20. Rains are likely in the Gangetic plains of West Bengal and Bihar on May 18.

Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speed of 30 to 50 kmph are likely over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 17 to 21 May. Scattered to light rain is likely over East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during 17 to 21 May. Scattered to light and at some places moderate rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh during 19 to 21 May.
