IMD has issued an alert, Heavy rains will occur in these states for the next 5 days

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain and isolated heavy rain are expected in many parts of South India between October 8 and 13. Rain and thunderstorms are likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Andhra Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema for the next five days.

According to the department, rainfall is expected to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha for the next three to four days. Light to moderate rainfall is possible in isolated pockets of Bihar and Jharkhand on October 8th. Thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 30–40 kmph are also possible. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on October 8th.

Chances of rain in northeastern states

According to the IMD, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from October 8 to 10. Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Arunachal Pradesh on October 9 and 10.

Chances of rain in Goa and Maharashtra

According to the department, Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra may experience light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy rain , on October 8. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and lightning will likely persist in many parts of Maharashtra for the next four days.

Alert issued for fishermen

Fishermen have been advised to avoid certain sea areas from October 8 to 12. These include the Kerala coast and Lakshadweep on October 8 to 9, the Konkan, west-central, and southern Arabian Sea, and the Karnataka coast on October 8, and the Gulf of Mannar and the southern Comorin region on October 10 to 12. Strong winds and stormy weather are expected in these areas, so sailors have been warned to exercise caution.
