The CM, who set ambitious targets at a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Friday, made it clear that the construction of at least 17 lakh houses should be completed in the next three years.

Housing Scheme: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is giving top priority to the housing sector in the state of Andhra Pradesh, has instructed the officials to complete the “Housing for All” program at the earliest. The CM, who set ambitious targets at a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Friday, made it clear that at least 17 lakh houses should be completed in the next three years.

The government has announced a target of building a total of 20 lakh houses after the coalition government comes to power. Work on three lakh houses has already been completed and mass housewarmings have been held. Now, the CM said that the departments should work with full coordination to complete the construction of the remaining 17 lakh houses within the stipulated time frame. He explained the government’s plan to complete this entire huge housing project by January 2029.

The CM suggested that mass housewarmings be held for completed houses once every three months. Special orders were issued to achieve housewarmings of five lakh houses by the upcoming Ugadi festival. “It is very important for me that people are satisfied. Care should be taken to ensure that no mistakes are made in the implementation,” the Chief Minister clarified.

The Chief Minister warned that the selection of beneficiaries should be completely transparent in addition to achieving the housing construction targets. He said that the survey that has already been started in this regard should be completed quickly and all eligible persons should be included in the final list. He said that it is mandatory to display the lists village-wise.

He directed the officials to immediately allocate land to beneficiaries who need land for houses and to issue position certificates to those who already have land. He suggested that colonies should be designed in a way that encourages the joint family system.

The government is already allocating additional funds to SC, ST, BC and PVTG communities under the PMAY scheme, and it will also provide special assistance to Muslim minorities. The CM announced that an additional Rs.50,000 will be sanctioned to these communities. He said that about Rs.90 crore will be required for 18,000 Muslim beneficiaries across the state.

As officials brought to the attention of the CM that bills worth Rs. 920 crore under the NTR Rural Housing Scheme implemented between 2014-2019 were pending due to the decisions of the previous government, he ordered special discussions to be held with the Center to recover these on the lines of the NREGA bills. The Chief Minister gave a clear direction to continue continuous efforts for the interests of the state.

Given these ambitious goals and rapid orders, it is clear that housing construction in AP is likely to gain further momentum in the coming years.
