Holiday Announcement: All schools will be closed tomorrow, half-day holiday in government offices too…

Monsoon rains are continuously wreaking havoc across the country. Due to heavy rains, floods have occurred in many states. Many villages in low-lying areas are still submerged in water.

Considering the serious situation, the state government has issued orders to keep schools and anganwadis closed. All schools in Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed tomorrow i.e. Tuesday. Not only this, a half-day holiday has been declared in government offices.

Holiday declared in all schools…

A half-day holiday has been declared in government offices in Thiruvananthapuram city on the occasion of the conclusion of Onam festivals. A holiday has been declared in all schools under the corporation limits on Tuesday. The District Collector said that this holiday will be applicable only to government, semi-government institutions and educational institutions.

Over a thousand artists, 60 floats in the procession…

The tourism department has decided to make the procession organised to mark the end of the week-long Onam festival a grand one. The cultural procession, which will start from Vellayambalam and end at the East Fort, will feature cultural performances by over 1,000 artists and around 60 floats.

It will start at 4 pm…

The procession will start at 4 pm from Manaviyam Veedhi and will be flagged off by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The procession will begin with the blowing of conch shells by 51 artists, who will announce the arrival of the procession. The Kombu instrument will be handed over to the main artist by Minister P.A. Mohammad Riyas, which will mark the beginning of the procession-related festival.

There will be around 60 tableaux from various departments depicting the development of the government. 91 audio-visual arts and the Indian Army band will add to the beauty of the procession. Rural arts from different states will also participate in the procession based on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’.
