Heavy Rain Warning: Heavy rain, storm warning, red alert in many districts till October 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27

Heavy Rain Warning: Two distinct low pressure areas over the southeast Arabian Sea and southwest Bay of Bengal are expected to bring heavy rainfall to southern peninsular India this week. According to the Meteorological Department, many areas of southern India are expected to receive 7 to 20 cm of rainfall. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are on alert for extremely heavy rainfall for the next two days. The Meteorological Department has urged people to remain vigilant.

There will be scattered rain and thundershowers over South Peninsular India.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain is likely at many places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal and south interior Karnataka from October 22nd to 24th. Thunderstorms are possible in some areas, with isolated heavy rain also possible. Heavy rain is likely in Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam and Rayalaseema from October 22nd to 27th. Rain is likely in north interior Karnataka on October 23rd and 24th. Rain is likely in Telangana from October 23rd to 25th.

Red alert issued in 8 districts of Tamil Nadu

Heavy rains predicted in parts of Andhra Pradesh

A low pressure area has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal. It was formed due to the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the region. The Meteorological Department said, “A low pressure area has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 36 hours.” Due to this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas till October 23.

Wind speed up to 55 kmph

The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds with speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour in many areas of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, thunderstorms are also expected in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema, with heavy rainfall expected in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on October 26 and 27.

Rain and strong winds likely in Odisha

The Meteorological Department has reported that a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal. Its effects will be felt in Odisha as well. Due to this, one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri may experience thunderstorms on Wednesday (October 22). Strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are also possible during this period.

Rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas

Rain is also expected in Mumbai. On Tuesday, Mumbai city and parts of the metropolitan area experienced sudden downpours accompanied by strong winds. Dadar, Bandra, Lalbaug, Powai, Byculla, Kurla, and several other areas experienced moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Heavy rain was also recorded in several areas, including Nerul, Belapur, Vashi, Seawoods, Sanpada, and Ghansoli.
