HDFC Bank: If you use HDFC credit card, then definitely understand these changes before July 1, 2025. HDFC Bank has made many important changes in its card rules from July 1, 2025. These changes are regarding gaming, wallet loading, utility bills, rent, fuel, education payments and reward points. Let us know what is going to change now.
No changes have been made on some cards like Millennia, Paytm, Swiggy, Easy EMI. Marriott Bonvoy cardholders will still get unlimited reward points.
Charge will be levied on online gaming
Now if you spend more than Rs 10,000 every month on platforms like Dream11 or MPL, then a charge of 1% will be levied on it. This charge will be limited to a maximum of Rs 4,999 per month. No reward points will be given on these expenses.
Wallet loading will also be expensive
Wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik will also be charged 1% for loading more than Rs 10,000 from credit card. This will also be limited to Rs 4,999. Reward points will not be given on this either.
Fee for utility bill payment increased
Now 1% fee was earlier charged on utility bill payment of more than Rs 50,000 up to Rs 3,000, now it has been increased to Rs 4,999. However, insurance payments are still exempt from this charge.
Charge for rent payment
1% fee will continue on every rent payment, but where earlier a maximum charge of Rs 3,000 was levied on a transaction, now this limit has been increased to Rs 4,999.
Fuel surcharge limit increased
The 1% surcharge on fuel expenses above Rs 15,000 was earlier limited to Rs 3,000. Now this limit has been increased to Rs 4,999.
Education payments also expensive
Education related payments made through third party platforms will also now attract a 1% charge up to a maximum of Rs 4,999. However, if the payment is made directly to the education institute, it will be exempt from this charge.
New limit of reward points on insurance
Now the reward points on insurance payments will be tracked on a monthly basis, not daily:
- Infinia/Infinia Metal cards: Earlier 5,000 points/day, now 10,000 points/month
- Diners Black/ Biz Black Metal: Now 5,000 points/month
- Other cards: 2,000 points/month
