Green Card Updates: A Green Card grants permanent residency in the United States. A person who receives a Green Card can live permanently in the United States for as long as they wish.

US Visa Bulletin: Indian workers working in the US have the option to apply for a green card after a few years. Obtaining a green card in the US means you have obtained permanent residency (PR) in the country. Once you receive a green card, you can settle permanently in the country. However, the waiting time for a green card is quite long. Because of this, the US State Department issues a visa bulletin every month, detailing the waiting time.

The US Visa Bulletin for December 2025 has been released. It also includes some changes for Indian applicants. Indian workers are granted employment-based green cards. The final action date for the EB-1 category (priority workers) has been extended by one month. Similarly, the dates for EB-2 (advanced degree professionals) have also been extended. Similarly, the dates for the EB-3 category have also been extended by one month, which is a good thing.

How to Understand the Visa Bulletin?

The US Visa Bulletin has two main sections: the “Final Action Date” and the “Filing Dates.” The “Final Action Date” provides information on the “Priority Date” (the date you first applied), which determines your green card eligibility. Think of it this way: if your “Priority Date” is before the date listed in the Visa Bulletin chart, you are likely to receive a green card. The “Priority Date” is the final step in obtaining a green card.

Similarly, the “Filing Dates” tell Indian workers when they need to apply for a Green Card with all the documents. As soon as you learn about the “Filing Dates,” you should prepare to begin the paperwork. After submitting all the documents, you simply have to wait, as you won’t receive your Green Card immediately. Understand the “Filing Dates” as your inclusion on the Green Card waiting list.

When will I receive a green card?

Let’s first discuss the EB-1 category, which includes priority workers. This category includes those who possess exceptional talent in their field. It also includes outstanding professors and researchers, as well as executives and managers of multinational companies. The final action date for the EB-1 category is March 15, 2022, up from February 15, 2022. Similarly, the filing date is April 15, 2023, which remains unchanged.

The EB-2 category includes workers with advanced degrees or exceptional skills. This category includes doctors, high-level engineers, scientists, and others. The final action date for this category is May 15, 2013, up from April 1, 2013. Thus, the ‘Final Action Date’ has been moved forward by one month. Regarding the ‘Filing Dates’, there has been no change, as they remain at December 1, 2013.

The EB-3 category includes skilled workers, professionals, and other workers. Most H-1B visa holders fall into this category. Other workers are considered to be those performing unskilled work. The ‘Final Action Date’ for this category is September 22, 2013, up from August 22, 2013. There has been no change in the Filing Dates, which remain at August 15, 20214.
