General Provident Fund: The government has announced the interest rate on General Provident Fund (GPF). Apart from GPF, the government has also fixed the interest rate on other provident funds from October to December 2025.
The government will give 7.1 percent interest on GPF from October 1 to December 31, 2025. The interest on GPF is the same as that on PPF, i.e., 7.1 percent. Currently, interest of 7.1 percent is being given on PPF. This new interest rate will also be applicable on GPF, Contributory Provident Fund, All India Service Provident Fund and other provident funds.
How much interest will you get on GPF?
According to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) of the Ministry of Finance, the government will pay 7.1 percent interest on the General Provident Fund and similar provident funds from October 1 to December 31, 2025. The government has not made any changes to the interest rates.
How much interest is earned on GPF and PPF ?
GPF offers the same interest rate as PPF. GPF rates are similar to those of the Public Provident Fund (PPF). All the funds listed below also earn interest at 7.1%.

What is General Provident Fund?
The General Provident Fund (GPF) is a type of provident fund available only to central government employees in India. Anyone in the government can contribute a portion of their salary to the General Provident Fund. Upon retirement, employees receive the accumulated savings plus interest. The Finance Ministry reviews the GPF interest rate quarterly and announces the quarterly interest rate.
