The government has clarified the rules regarding the conditions and how much pension and gratuity the employees who take compulsory retirement will get. Employees who take compulsory retirement have a lot of confusion regarding the amount of their gratuity and its calculation according to the period of service.

Now the government has clearly explained this entire process. The government has issued a new office memorandum in this regard. This will be applicable under Rule 44 of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules 2021. With this step, now the employees will get clear information about the conditions and how much money they will get when they get compulsory retirement during service.

For those with more than 10 years of service

An important update has arrived for central government employees. Now, if a government employee is forced to retire, how much pension and gratuity will they receive ? If a central government employee is forced to retire after completing at least 10 years of service, they will be entitled to a compulsory retirement pension. The amount of this pension will be a fixed percentage of the normal superannuation pension, i.e., the regular retirement pension. This percentage will be decided by the relevant department or competent authority.

For those with less than 10 years of service

Employees who are compulsorily retired before 10 years of service will be awarded a compulsory retirement service gratuity, a fixed percentage of the superannuation gratuity, which will be approved by the competent authority.

Information Instruction

The government has directed all ministries and departments to disseminate information about this rule to their employees so that there is no confusion or dispute in the future.

Why is this information important for employees?

Employees nearing retirement need to understand how their benefits will be determined based on their service period. They should also note that the final pension or gratuity amount will only be determined after approval by the competent authority . This government move is a relief for employees planning for their future financial security , ensuring they are fully aware of their rights even in the event of forced retirement .
