Old Pension Scheme: The central government has given a big statement on the long-running discussions regarding the old pension scheme. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary made it clear in the Lok Sabha that there is currently no plan to give the benefit of the old pension scheme to the employees of public sector undertakings and public sector banks.
Employees appointed before December 2003 will get the benefit
The minister said that on the basis of the orders of various courts, the central government had issued an order on 3 March 2023. Under this, only those employees will be eligible for the old pension scheme. Who were appointed on the vacancies notified before the notification of the new pension scheme on 22 December 2003. Such employees can avail this benefit under the old pension rules if they want.

The minister clarified that the Pension Fund Rules 2014 will be applicable for State Bank of India employees. The Finance Ministry has no proposal to extend the benefit of old pension scheme to employees of other PSBs and PSUs.
