Delhi Pink Saheli Smart Card: Bus travel will now become easier for women and transgender passengers in Delhi. The hassle of repeatedly getting pink tickets is about to end.
The Delhi government is launching the “Pink Saheli Smart Card”. This card will provide the facility of free travel to women and transgenders in DTC and cluster buses.
This card will be available to women and transgender people residing in Delhi above the age of 12 years. The previously issued pink bus tickets will now be replaced with digital smart cards bearing their name and photograph. This will not only simplify the process but will also prevent misuse of tickets.
How to get Pink Saheli Smart Card
The application process will be completely online. Interested candidates can apply by visiting dtc.delhi.gov.in or Pink Saheli portal. For registration, information like name, date of birth, address, Aadhaar number and mobile number will need to be provided. Aadhaar voter ID, ration card, or birth certificate will need to be uploaded for proof of identity. After verification, the card will be sent directly to the beneficiary’s address.
Pink Saheli smart card will be valid on DTC and cluster buses
After receiving the card, it will have to be activated online, after which it can be used to travel by tapping it while boarding the bus. This feature will be valid only on DTC and cluster buses, not on the metro or other modes of transport.
The smart card will be based on NCMC technology.
This smart card will be based on NCMC technology, which will allow it to be integrated with other transport services in the future. The travel will be completely free. However, a nominal charge may be levied by the bank on issuing or replacing the card. The Delhi government is preparing to implement this scheme soon, which will make travel safer and more accessible for women and transgenders.
