India Post Payments Bank: Pensioners do not need to visit a bank or EPFO office. IPPB will provide door-to-door service. There are over 1.65 lakh post offices and over 300,000 postal employees across the country.
How to Submit Digital Life Certificate: If you or someone in your family is an EPFO pensioner, this news is useful for you. Yes, under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS’95), the EPFO will provide pensioners the facility to submit a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) at their homes. For this, the EPFO has signed an agreement with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) is a biometric-enabled, Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for pensioners.
Lakhs of pensioners will get benefit
Each DLC has a unique ID number called a “Pramaan-Id.” The best part is that the Pension Disbursing Agency processes it automatically. Now, with the introduction of the Digital Life Certificate, millions of pensioners will be able to benefit from it.
How does DLC work?
Pensioners don’t need to visit a bank or EPFO office. IPPB provides door-to-door service. There are over 165,000 post offices and over 300,000 postal employees across the country. Proof is generated by face and finger verification using biometric machines operated by IPPB staff. This service is free and EPFO covers the cost.
Life certificate has to be submitted every year.
Let us tell you that EPFO pensioners have to submit a life certificate every year. By submitting this, it is proved that they are alive. Pension is credited to the account only after submitting the DLC. Pensioners have to submit the life certificate every year between November 1 and November 30. Submitting this does not stop the pension. Senior citizens above 80 years of age will be able to submit life certificate from October 1, 2025. IPPB started the door-to-door DLC service in the year 2020.
